Manufacturing Jobs Grow – Again
Once again, there’s good news from the manufacturing sector of the economy: last month, manufacturers added 50,000 jobs–more than 20% of all jobs added nationwide.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen growth in that area, either: manufacturing showed major gains back in March of last year, and recently, three reports indicated that manufacturing jobs would grow significantly in Hampton Roads.
This is great news, not only for the manufacturing sector, but for the economy as a whole. An increase in hiring means that companies have experienced an increase in demand, and that their businesses are growing not just in terms of headcount but in terms of revenue, profit and market share.
It’s also a powerful rebuttal to the idea that manufacturing jobs have left the U.S. We can’t figure out how this meme keeps perpetrating itself, given that workers with manufacturing skills and experience are still in demand, and that demand is only likely to increase as older skilled workers retire.
As a manufacturer, you probably know that there are still plenty of jobs in your field here. If you’re already feeling a need for skilled people in your manufacturing business, contact us today. We have 30 years of experience in filling positions, and manufacturing is one of our specialties.
